Some like to get in close and knife fight.

Like I said, mine tends to be gunfighting. In the end, it comes down to your play style. All you can do most of the time is spam HE and that generally isn't a winning strategy on its own unless you are careful and play a support role to other ships. In my view the 6" cruisers just get worse as you get to higher tiers. The hitting performance is nowhere like the US cruisers and they are very vulnerable in most arcs.

The USSR line has good guns but that's about it. They can however have a really good torpedo battery even if the range is somewhat limited. The Germans can take some punishment, but you have the drawback of fewer guns on just about every ship in the line. Show a broadside to another cruiser and you get citadeled, probably repeatedly. They, like the Russian and British line are also fragile. The Japanese can torpedo spam, particularly kiting away. But, they lack torpedoes so you have to watch your range against stuff that has those. For example, I prefer gunboats as cruisers so I generally play the US heavy line. It depends largely on your style of play. I have had a lot of fun with them.Įach line has it's strengths and weaknesses. There are tons out there so you can see how they perform and decide which you feel is most suited to your play style. I don't have the greatest win rate in random battles but I have fun playing those ships. But the style of play of those lines just isn't comfortable for me as much as the others. I have only played the USSR and French cruisers up to tier 9. I haven't played the UK Minotaur as much as the others, But when I did I usually supported my DDs and help contested caps with it. Hug around covering islands and support my team with consumables while taking pot shots at the enemy whenever it presents itself. The US cruisers Worcester and Des Moines I play the same.

The ship is almost impervious to fire damage. I run both damage control module upgrades and the legendary module on top of that with a survival Captain build and fire reduction flags. I head straight at HE cruisers whenever I can. Love sending a torpedo volley back at them and watch them flood/burn to death. Those factors influence how I play my Zao usually in the match. Whatever I feel like depending on how may radar cruisers there are or if there is a CV. I play the IJN Zao as a long range sniper (with range module) or sometimes as DD escort on caps.
